Grain free dog treats are a good alternative if your dog has an allergy to wheat or grains. This is one of the easiest grain free dog treat recipes I have made. This recipe has few ingredients and you will likely have most of them on hand. Both my dogs love this recipe. Banjo did take a second to sniff this treat the first time before gobbling it up.
½ cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cups garbanzo bean flour
¼ cup water
Mix together the egg, peanut butter and olive oil, mix until smooth.
Mix in garbanzo bean flour and water until fully combined.
Use some garbanzo bean flour to roll the dough out to about a ¼ inch thickness.
Cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 for 20 to 25 minutes. Check at 18 minutes.
Allow the grain free dog treats to cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes.
Makes 8 good sized treats.
I use organic peanut butter.
I use cage free eggs
I buy the garbanzo bean flour at Whole Foods. Any health/organic/natural food store will carry it.
The dough is very sticky. I only rolled it once before I floured it and flipped it over to roll it again. Using wax paper might be another good option for rolling it out but I haven’t tried that yet.
Try replacing the water with chicken or beef broth
Grain free dog treat recipes allow you to give your dog a treat without the wheat flour. There are many dogs with wheat allergies and buying special treats can be expensive. This recipe can help you save money while providing a tasty treat for your four legged friend.
